An amazing place to stay
If you are looking for a base to enjoy some of the most spectacular parts of France, you will not be disappointed with what you find.
We received a fantastic welcome from Sarah and enjoying staying in the luxury of the 2 bed gite. For those rainy mornings we enjoyed relaxing breakfasts with fresh eggs from the family hens before heading out to enjoy various regions after the siesta.
We found that the vines growing around the property are used by Hennessy in the creation of their Cognacs, there were a number of barrels in the aging warehouse with Chez Barre written across the front.
But, back to the gite, the space is bright, modern and airy; all adds to feeling relaxed and not rushed. As I said above, if you book to stay here you will not be disappointed.
From myself and Roberta, thank you Sarah for a wonderful welcome and a fantastic stay. We look forward to seeing the region again in the future (not too sure when) and when we do we shall be in touch to stay once again.
All the best.

Can't wait until next year! J
We have just got home from a fabulous week. From the minute we arrived the owners of this beautiful gite made us feel completely at home. The lovely owners were there on hand for all our strange requests, from restaurant recommendations to delicious eggs fresh from their chickens for breakfast. The gites are perfectly equipped with everything you need. Our boys spent most of the time playing ping pong, going off on their bikes into the woods and playing in the fantastic hot tub. It is amazingly quiet. All you hear is the occasional tractor working in the vineyards in the distance. We had mixed weather so on the cloudy days went to Saint, the lovely Talmont and the brilliant Zoo in Palmyre, and the beach 20 mins away. Would definitely recommend for families or for couples wanting a quiet retreat in the heart of real France.
Thank you Sarah and Simon for a perfect break, can we have the same week next year?
Lovely rural France
A great place to stay, characterful and peaceful, off the main (quiet) road set in their own gardens behind the main house. A short walk to the next hamlet provides local interest: a short car ride (less than an hour) gives access to the beach, Talmont (a town built 1284 by Edward 1st of England) and Saintes, a city with good shops and Roman ruins. Something for everybody!
My delightful winter break
The time I spent in the gite over New Year was perfect.
It is situated in beautiful countryside surrounded by orchards and fields.
The description of the spotlessly clean accommodation was everything and more than I expected, the design of the gite and furnishings are well thought through making my stay very comfortable and homelike. The owners have equipped the gite in every possible way to accommodate the customer's needs and requirements both inside and out.
Although the gite is in a very peaceful and quiet area making walking and cycling very accessible, it is also not too far from main roads that lead you to the surrounding towns and beaches which offer everything necessary for an interesting holiday.
A thoroughly lovely family run holiday experience which I will definately recommend to friends and family and will return in the summer to see the beautiful area in a different aspect.
A Beautiful Place to stay
We just wanted to say thankyou so much for such a great holiday. A beautiful secluded area and a gorgeous gite to match. It was a pefect place to spend a relaxing holiday, whilst also being close enough to long sandy beaches and the lovely, vibrant cities of Saintes and Bodeaux.
We loved the chickens and the fresh eggs eaten at breakfast each day were a real treat. Lots of fun was had on the grounds too which are perfect for playing a competitive game of rounders on or hide and seek in the orchard.
We would love to go back and wouldn't hesitate in recomending the gite.
